All about Bowie

Bowie's mum told us:

We fostered him aged 9 after he came into rescue. He had lived outside in a shed in a small concrete yard with another dog and when that dog died, the owner no longer wanted him. He settled in very quickly to life in a house with 2 other dogs and has never shown any form of aggression or fear to any other human or dog. He loves his comforts, has a very typical husky personality - into everything, loves digging holes and being with other dogs or people.
In 2024, (age 11) he suddenly started to develop weakness in his back legs and within a couple of days he could barely stand. The vet prescribed painkillers and referred him for physiotherapy assessment and hydrotherapy. We started daily exercises to try and strengthen his muscles and weekly swimming which made a huge improvement for about 12 months. He then gradually begin to drag his back feet and the physio suggested toe up splints to improve his walking. He had only been managing about 20 minute walks before getting weaker and having to stop.
He was still loving life though and was happy in every other way, just really struggling with daily walks.

How we met Winston’s Wheels

I went to All about Dogs in Ipswich over the Easter weekend and passed the stand, it looked a potential solution to his current problems so I took Bowie over to get more details and information. He was measured and fitted with his wheels on the spot and took to them straight away! We came home on Monday night and he has had 2 successful walks so far. The wheels have been great and have coped with uneven ground and grass verges easily. Several other dog walkers have all mentioned that they have never seen a dog on wheels before and are genuinely curious about them. Ghost (our other dog) is learning to leave a bigger space between the wheels as he has been run over a few times! It’s very early days but so far, it’s been incredibly positive .

We look forward to seeing Bowie's adventures on his wheels.
